The RPSGB has advised UK pharmacists they may now dispense medicines prescribed by doctors or dentists registered in a country within the European Economic Area or Switzerland. This means that visitors to the UK from EEA or Switzerland can have their prescriptions filled by a UK pharmacist, as a private prescription, of course, and not on the NHS. It also means that doctors prescribing online in Europe can also have their prescriptions filled by UK pharmacists. As the rules regarding online prescribing are opened up to allow cross border prescribing the United Kingdom General Medical Council still takes a very opposed view to this modern practice. Some other European countries are also against online consultations but the EU as a whole seems to be legislating in favour of this modern approach to simple medical problems, such as impotence, with medicines like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra now properly available online from responsible companies like UK based Clinic Europe. |
