Mohammed Azim Dad from Slough pleaded guilty to selling fake impotence medicines at Reading Crown Court and was sentenced to 250 hours community service. He had been selling fake Viagra, Cialis and Levitra that he had bought from China. He sold the tablets for £4 each on the internet and was still selling the tablets while the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) were investigating. Agents from Eli Lilly, the Cialis manufacturer, had purchased product over the internet and when tested it was found to be fake. When the MHRA raided his home they discovered fake products valued at an estimated total of £40-50,000.
The MHRA is the Government Agency that is responsible for seeing that all medicines available in the UK are safe and of correct quality and formulation. They have recently been very active and successful in tracking down gangs of impotence medicine fraudsters.
